AGAIN! The Act of Perfection by Marco Davis
February 17th at 7pm
Astoria Arts and Movement Center
Director Marco Davis is looking for three dancers (aged 18+) to appear in his original play, opening on May 30th. Auditioners should arrive no more than 10 minutes early and be prepared to move. Bring your tap shoes (if you have them), and a list of any conflicts between now and June 14th. Headshots and resumes are welcome but not required.
Rehearsals will be Monday nights at 7pm to start and then increase to multiple nights per week in April.
Synopsis:
Do you ever get that burning desire? A longing to have wings and soar upon the wind singing the song of freedom? AGAIN! The Act of Perfection is an autobiographical, one act, one man quasi musical that takes the viewer on a journey, which could be anyone’s journey. Well, anyone that happens to have grown up as a closeted Catholic boy trying to find his place in the world.
Utilizing a Greek chorus representing the various voices of influence along the way, a few backup dancers, and a musician; the script flows and dances as the coming-of-age story of a young gay man unfolds with the landscape shifting and expanding along the way.
If you wish to audition, but are unable to attend the scheduled dates, please email info@thetenfifteentheater.com to schedule another time.
Every Saturday: 1:30 - 2:30
Ages 18+, register here (required)
Want to feel your sexiest self? Build confidence and community? Burlesque Saturdays with Nat is where it all begins. This class will offer learning Burlesque basics while strutting to club classics to embrace your hottest self. We will learn a dance for two-weeks then move on to new choreo after that. You can drop-in at any time since we will review the previous week’s choreography while adding new.
What to wear? Wear clothing that makes you feel confident and sexy. We will be doing a lot of fast movement and groundwork, therefore long, baggy clothes may not be ideal. This class will be taught in heels, but for beginners, I STRONGLY encourage you to either be barefoot or wear athletic shoes until you become confident and comfortable to start wearing heels. Please read the disclaimer on the sign-up sheet regarding safety if you do decide to wear heels.
The music in class will be bumping and have strong language in it so individuals under 18 will not be accepted in class due to this and the nature of style this class offers.
If you have any questions and or concerns please feel free to reach out via text anytime: 630-492-9550.
